Voice Therapy for Adults

Voice therapy helps adults whose voice has become hoarse, weak, strained or tired. A speech pathologist looks at how the voice is being used and teaches exercises and voice care strategies to help it work more comfortably. Speech To You provides voice therapy for adults across Melbourne, at home, in the community and by telehealth.

Signs of a voice difficulty

  • Hoarseness or a croaky voice that doesn't settle
  • A voice that tires or fades during the day
  • Pain or strain when speaking
  • Loss of volume or range

Anyone with a voice change lasting more than a few weeks should see their doctor, who may refer them to an ear, nose and throat (ENT) doctor. Speech pathologists often work alongside ENT and voice clinics.

What voice therapy involves

Therapy usually combines voice exercises, breathing and posture work, and everyday voice care such as hydration and pacing. Our team includes a clinician with experience in voice and upper airway disorders, gained at a Melbourne voice clinic, and a background in singing.

Funding

We support people aged 15 and over who are funded through the NDIS or My Aged Care (Support at Home). [to confirm: NDIS plan types accepted, and whether private clients are seen]
